Other State and Regional Reports

California, Florida and Texas are the three largest cement consuming states, accounting for nearly one-third of total United States cement consumption, but R.O.I. Economic Consulting issues reports periodically on the rest of the country as well. The goal is to cover every state at least once every three years. Most reports encompass a group of states with common characteristics or overlapping markets. To date, R.O.I. Economic Consulting has published a report on every state at least twice. Check with us for particular states and when they were last studied.

Oregon and Washington Cement Markets

The past decade has seen unsurpassed growth of business and personal wealth in Oregon and Washington. Few areas on the planet have benefited more from the “high tech revolution”. Companies in computer hardware and software, internet, telecommunications (both wired and wireless), biotech, and aerospace are all in abundance in the Northwest. The gourmet coffee craze even started here with Starbucks. Lumber, agriculture, and shipping remain important economic sectors as well.

The problem is that superhot high tech sector reached its inevitable climax in early 2000. Not only in the Northwest but throughout the world there is a profound slump in virtually all sectors related to high tech. This report examines the past, present and future of Oregon and Washington.
